Fish Tagging Instructions

1) Hold the fish firmly in the swimming position to reduce movement. Fish that are moving erratically can injure themselves and cause the self-piercing tag to be knocked off the applicator tool.

2) With the self-piercing tag loaded into the applicator tool, slide the tag over the edge of the operculum and press down on the handle of the applicator tool. This causes the pointed end of the tag to go through the hole at the other end, locking it in place.

3) Be sure to leave some room between the end of the closed tag and the edge of the operculum to allow for fish growth over the years.

4) Release the handle, ensuring not to damage the operculum when this is done.

5) Catch more fish and try again.
