Sonar®(A.S.) is available as an aqueous suspension. It will not kill phytoplankton or filamentous algae, but controls a broad spectrum of higher plants including watermeal and duckweed. This herbicide is slow acting, and results may take 30 to 90 days to be noticeable. Usually within 7 to 10 days of treatment the growing points of treated plants become white or pink as a result of chlorophyll photodegradation.

Sonar®(A.S.) should be applied to actively growing weeds, and the entire pond surface should be treated at once. Partial or spot treatments result in dilution of the herbicide with the untreated water. Do not use treated water for crop irrigation for 30 days after application. Application rates vary depending on the target weed, but are usually 1 quart per acre. Consult one of our biologists for a specific application rate.
