The Fish Hut is a user-friendly, convenient and inexpensive arificial fish habitat that enables the user to raise fish throughout their entire life cycle. The Fish Hut is especially useful under circumstances where natural vegetation is lacking, whether that be deep lakes that due to their depth have no vegetation or lakes that are currently having the alge and plant growth artificially controlled due to excessive past growth.
The Fish Hut is made of a corrugated plastic and measures 48" wide x 60" long x 48" high. Each Fish Hut is comprised of six panels, four supports and 44 plastic zip ties that when connected together, place different size openings at different heights allowing fish of various sizes to utilize them. To keep the Fish Hut in one place, it is recommended that a concrete block or brush be placed inside via the hinged top panel.
The Fish Hut has been used extensively by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Bureau of Fish Management and its been noted that numerous varieties and various sizes of fish utilize the Fish Hut. Fish congregate around the Fish Hut to feed on baitfish due to their attraction to the growth of algae on the Fish Hut. With readily available food, shelter and with spawning activity being seen near the Fish Hut, this habitat is essentially all the fish need.
